Four master craftsmen lent their talents to the construction of the Hermitage. Charles Woodsend, M.F. McCarthy, Frank R. Watson, and Karl von Rydingsvard all spent time on site working with the Sloane family to produce the Arts and Crafts mansion seen today. The majority of the home was designed and constructed by the English woodcarver Charles Woodsend. Later additions like the Gothic Drawing Room by Frank Watson and the ornate verge boards by Karl von Rydingsvard added even more character to an already artistically balanced home.
